A corrupted computer file is because its contents have been written or overwritten to the file system in a method that renders it unreadable, either by a human or more likely software crash or failure. In cases where an original exists, the previous version of the file can often be recovered. But in cases where the original file was created corrupt when written to the hard disk, there may be nothing to salvage.

Files could become corrupt because:

Power down of computer or external hard drive in the process of saving.

Interruption of download.

Hard drive bad sector issue.

Non safely removal of USB flashdrive

Flash drive failure

Malicious computer virus

We use a specialised cleanroom Data recovery lab with a service area (computing) where we can use a advanced technique called MFSTM (Magnetic Force Scanning Tunnelling Microscopy) to salvage data. We also provide a computer forensics expert service for recovery of Crypto-shredded, encrypted, hidden electronic file or hidden directory which can occur in virus attacks or ransomware. There are four main phases of a successful Data recovery process, depending on the type of data corruption and the level of damage to the device.

Phase 1

We repair the hard disk drive to get it running so the data is readable. This may required parts to be fixed or replaced, like the heads, spindle motor or the printed circuit board (PCB). It may require moving of the platters and heads to a new drive.

Phase 2

We then create an image of the failed hard drive data hierarchy to prevent further damage loss. This soft copy is worked on to preserve the source drive and maximise the level of data recovery.

Phase 3

We perform a logical recovery of data files by scanning the file directory system area and crosslinked file. Investigating route cause analysis of the corruption, and attempt to repair the partition table or master boot record (MBR). The aim is to read the file systems data structure, essential in the retrieval of salvage data.

Phase 4

We reconstruct the drive sector flat file database to make the data and file system readable again. This enables the corrupted data to be recovered or reconstructed, and moved to a new data source device that we can return to you.

Hard drive data recovery is the process of restoring lost files from laptops, desktops, servers, or any other computer system that relies on hard disk drives (HDDs) for data storage. Datarecovery.lk is a world leader in hard drive recovery, and with multiple full-service laboratories, we offer the best set of options for safe, affordable hard drive recovery.

You’re probably staring at a file icon with a question mark, or Windows is telling you it detected “a hard disk problem.”

Some of the other common data loss scenarios for hard drives include:

Physical problems due to a drop or bumped drive

Disk read/write head failure

Power surge electronic damage

Failed PCB (printed circuit board), which can sometimes cause a clicking noise

Corrupt MBR (Master Boot Record)

Corrupt partition table

Damaged interface, such as USB or SATA connector

Failed fuse, capacitor or resistor

Bad motor controller

Failed cache memory

Failed voltage regulator

Many hard drives sustain multiple issues while failing, and no two instances of data loss are exactly the same. That’s why engineering expertise plays such an enormous role in hard drive data recovery.

Datarecovery.lk treats every case individually using an optimized process, analyzing a variety of factors including hard drive model, age, firmware revision, and failure scenario to create an appropriate recovery plan.

Because each of our locations is equipped with ISO 5 cleanroom technology, we’re able to perform all necessary component repairs on site. Our engineers also have access to a number of other specialized tools, which allow us to repair hard drive firmware, read/write heads, and other components in a safe and effective manner.

When you lose data, you need to work with qualified experts who will take your case seriously. Datarecovery.lk’s engineering team is trusted by Fortune 100 companies, government agencies, hospitals, data centers, and small businesses across the world, and we treat every case with the same excellent care.

Data recovery is a serious operation which needs specialized equipment and training to recover data from crashed or failed storage devices such as Desktop PC/Laptop internal hard disks, External hard disk, USB flash drive and Internal phone memory (HDD,SSD,SD,CF,eMMC,etc). This process cannot be done by regular tools, dusty rooms or without training. Our aim is to make this data recovery service affordable for anyone who needs their valuable data recovered.
